{Newport Temple}

Yesterday I met Michelle Hornby (David's Aunt) in Newport Beach. We went to the Newport Temple, had lunch and spent some wonderful time together. The Temple is so beautiful with dark wood arched doors and many more beautiful designer touches. I haven't been there since we went as a family to the open house. One of the things that impressed me at the open house was the statue of Christ that was made from clay. It was transported from Arizona, I believe, and I remember the story being incredible, I just can't remember the incredible story. Sorry!
This picture below is taken at the LDS motion picture studios in Utah. It is the mural that is in the Newport Temple. Karen (my sister) was working on the Joseph Smith movie and gave us a tour of the lot. In one of the buildings, two artists were working on murals for the Newport and Sacramento Temples. Each mural was to look like the natural surroundings of each area. The murals were not completed but they were absolutely amazing! I admire those with the artistic talent to create something so lifelike. I'd love to go to Sacramento to see that mural.Anyway, it was a beautiful day with a wonderful lady. It was nice to catch up on Michelle's family and life. It was great to see her looking so happy and well even though she has had numerous challenges with health issues & other interesting things. She is someone I truly admire because she is able to see the blessings and growth that come from some of life's difficulties. She is conscious of her children individually and their needs and how to help them and is able to share ideas to help me with things I need help with. She has an amazing spirit and I love to be in her presence. She has been traveling around visiting temples and I would love to be able to do that someday, also. I loved watching her speak to the workers and tell them what a beautiful temple they have. She is a great example to me of so many things especially joy and gratitude. Michelle, thank you for thinking of me and inviting me to spend the day with you. I love you and wish you safe traveling!

Great post!! That would be so fun to travel to all of the Temples!! Maybe we should plan that for sometime in the future to do. Maybe a mother-daughter get away or even just Dad, you and Shaun and me! That would be so much fun!!

What a fun day! I have really been wanting to go to the Newport Temple this month. Maybe for a date night . . .

I was also so impressed with the murals in that temple. Amazing. I loved how they made look so much like the surrounding beauty of that area.

(Ok, Kelly...I'll make it official!)

Newport is my favorite temple as far as decor goes! I love the Italian tile mosaic as you walk in past the desk...oh, and the mural...gorgeous!

(so there, I did it...I left a message, that no longer makes me a stalker!!)
